About the Wine:

A luminous wine with shades of rose gold and aromas of red berries. A finely tangy, elegant and thirst-quenching palate An atypical wine that will brighten up your aperitifs with friends around tapas, sweet and savory verrines, and bites with herbs and spices. It also accompanies grilled fish, such as salmon or red mullet.

 

About the Producer:

Couly Dutheil is now managed by Arnaud Couly. In 2005, he wanted to change direction, insisting on work in the vineyard in order to obtain much riper grapes and more fruity wines without losing the notes of freshness. Low extractions, abandonment of aging on wood, very light filtration. To taste the different cuvées of Domaine Couly Dutheil is to discover the different terroirs of the Chinon appellation. Our Estate owns 95 hectares in Chinon and 7 hectares in Turquant, in the Saumur and Saumur Champigny appellations. Arnaud Couly Dutheil, great-grandson of Baptiste Dutheil, founder of the Domaine, offers a new facet of the Chinon appellation, favoring the best plots of the Domaine.

 

Technical: 

"For years, we have been working in close collaboration with an advisor who guides us in order to limit our impact on resources and soils as much as possible, by using agricultural practices that respect the environment: thanks to a network of meteorological observation stations and diseases, we drastically reduce inputs and process only when really needed and in very small quantities. The analyzes of our wines show no pesticide residues. The vines are grassed, favoring the biological activity of the soil and reducing erosion.

The bunches are spaced out, thus avoiding rot spots, which makes it possible to limit treatments even more. In the winery, we favor a very low extraction, we only use minimal doses of sulphites, we use indigenous yeasts... everything is in place to let the wines express themselves as freely as possible. The greatest care during vinification, the use of the principles of gravity in our vat room, impeccable hygiene of the vats, a selection of the healthiest grapes... allow us to use very low quantities of sulphites (less than 30mg/litre)."

 

Terrior: Flint clay plateaus within the AOC Chinon. Our region benefits from a temperate semi-oceanic climate favorable to the cultivation of vines.

 

Variety: 100% Cabernet Franc
